1. Introduction & Core Privacy Promise
Onegen Search is a standalone, 100% on-device utility by Onegen.ai. It requires no Onegen account and never syncs your browsing history to Onegen cloud servers. Onegen Search (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is designed from the ground up as a 100% local, privacy-first browser extension. We believe that your personal browsing history, reading habits, and research notes belong exclusively to you.
Zero Cloud Footprint: Onegen Search does not operate external databases, cloud servers, or remote analytics.
Zero Data Transmission: Your data never leaves your device. No browsing history, queries, page text, or metadata is ever sent over the internet.
No User Accounts: Onegen Search works out-of-the-box. We do not require accounts, logins, passwords, or email registrations.
No Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or transfer user data to any third party, data broker, or advertising network.

3. On-Device AI Processing (Sleep-Wake AI)
Onegen Search uses on-device artificial intelligence (such as Chrome’s built-in Prompt API / Gemini Nano) to generate 1-sentence research summaries and topic tags:
100% On-Device: AI computation occurs strictly within your browser using local hardware.
No External AI APIs: We do not send your text to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Cloud, or any third-party AI server.
Immediate Memory Release: AI models operate on a “sleep-wake” cycle they only activate when saving or querying history and immediately release memory to maintain zero idle RAM usage.
4. Automatic Privacy Shield & Excluded Content
To protect your confidential information, Onegen Search includes a hardcoded Privacy Shield that automatically ignores, bypasses, and never records or closes:
1. Email Services: Gmail (`mail.google.com`), Outlook, Yahoo Mail, ProtonMail.
2. Messaging Platforms: WhatsApp Web (`web.whatsapp.com`), Telegram, Signal, Slack, Discord.
3. Financial & Banking Services: Bank portals, PayPal, Stripe Checkout, and payment forms.
4. Authentication & Sensitive Pages: Login pages, account sign-in forms, password reset links, and checkout screens.
5. Private / Incognito Windows: Onegen Search is strictly disabled in incognito and private browsing tabs.
6. Custom Blocklist: You can add any custom domain to your personal Privacy Shield blocklist at any time.
5. Chrome Permissions & Why They Are Needed
In compliance with the Chrome Web Store Minimum Privilege Policy, Onegen Search only requests permissions necessary for its core features:
Storage: Saves your custom domain blocklists and UI preferences locally.
Tabs: Used to identify open research tabs for parking, closing parked tabs, and re-opening saved tabs.
ActiveTab: Allows you to save your current reading spot when you click “Save Current Research”.
Scripting: Injects exact scroll position restoration when re-opening parked pages.
SidePanel: Provides the native “Onegen Vault” and “Ask My History” search interface.
Alarms: Schedules Time-Capsule reminders (e.g., “Remind me in 3 days”).
Notifications: Displays desktop notifications when a scheduled research reminder is due.
Host Permission (`<all_urls>`): Required to measure reading scroll depth on public research pages and display non-intrusive Déjà Vu banners on supported search engines. All sensitive domains remain strictly blocked by the Privacy Shield.
6. User Control, Data Portability, and Deletion
You have complete control over all data stored by Onegen Search:
Instant Deletion: You can delete individual pages or entire research sessions at any time directly from the side panel.
Full Vault Export: You can export your entire database as a standard `.json` backup file at any time.
Complete Erasure: Uninstalling Onegen Search from Chrome automatically and permanently deletes the local IndexedDB database and all stored data from your computer.
7. Google Limited Use Compliance
Onegen Search complies fully with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the
Limited use requirements:
– Data is accessed solely to provide the single purpose of local research memory and smart tab parking.
